Working to Improve Our School Everyday: Tracking “Majors” and “Minors”
As a state recognized silver medal winning Montana Behavioral Initiative (MBI) school, Independent actively works to improve student behaviors as well as student academics. Our goal is to help students become aware of their actions so they may work to improve their behaviors. Independent has expected behaviors posted in a matrix for specific areas of the school. In addition, behaviors are defined as “minor” or “major” depending on the severity of the infraction. Four “minors” for the same infraction become a “major” which indicates the student still is not learning expected behavior. The matrix and definitions are all posted on the Independent website and are contained in the student handbook.
